Shuttle Logistics, Jet Lag Prep, and Trip Excitement

TL;DR

  • Spent the morning using Claude to work out shuttle bookings from Agent 1486’s flight spreadsheet, accounting for EU vs non-EU arrival/processing times
  • Posted shuttle plan to Slack, got good responses, and am now on the hook for purchasing transport and awaiting a quote for reimbursement
  • Still need to confirm the transport cost will actually be covered, buy a power adapter for first overseas flight, and get to merge requests
  • Wrote a personal jet lag guide and start shifting sleep two hours earlier tonight, adjusting further each night until Saturday to sync with Barcelona time
  • Feeling excited about fun Slack channels and the possibility of meeting people in person, maybe grabbing food together

Shuttle Booking & Transport Responsibility

Spent a good chunk of the morning figuring out how to book shuttles. Used Claude to work through the flight list Agent 1486 put together (a spreadsheet others populated with their flights and arrival times), cross-referencing it with the transportation site Agent 1486 found and weighing different bus sizes. Had to account for the fact that some people are within the EU and others outside it, meaning security/border processing times differ and flight arrival times don’t map neatly onto shuttle pickup times. Worked out flight groupings to determine which shuttles to book and what size, then posted the plan to the Slack group. People were responsive, which was great. Now I’m on the hook for actually purchasing the transport and am responsible for it — I’ve contacted the transport company with all the details and am awaiting their quote. A number of people are relying on me to follow through. Next step is to check in with the right person to confirm the cost will definitely be covered/reimbursed by the company, since so far I’ve only heard secondhand that it is.

Other Trip Prep & Work

Also need to buy a power adapter since I’ve never flown overseas before. Between the shuttle logistics, researching power adapters, and still having merge requests to get to, it’s been a stressful, busy day with a lot to process all at once.

Jet Lag Plan

Not looking forward to jet lag, so I wrote myself a jet lag guide to follow for when my brain isn’t working properly. Starting tonight, I’ll sleep two hours earlier than normal, then an hour earlier again the next night, continuing this until Saturday so that by the time I fly and land in Barcelona, my circadian rhythm should be within an hour or two of local time. The adjustment will likely still be rough, but that day isn’t packed and I’ll get another night to acclimatize. The plan includes stepping outside for a walk upon waking, tracking Spanish time, keeping things dark, and possibly using melatonin and sunglasses. Hoping it works so I can actually think straight.

Looking Forward to Meeting People

On the flip side, there are a lot of fun channels happening in Slack, and I might get to meet all these people, which I’m genuinely excited about. Hoping we can grab a bite to eat and hang out as real people.
